Explanation: The sentence above is Incorrect (I), because there is no comma (,) after the fist sentence and there are two adverb time connector ‘since’ and ‘as’ at the beginning of sentence . The correct sentence is:

Since all the votes  have not yet been counted , the outcome of the election cannot be announced.

Diversity and How to Maintain

According to the website of the Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia, the definition of diversity is a condition in society that there are many differences in various fields. Differences can be seen from ethnicity, race, religion, beliefs, political ideology, socio-cultural and economic and others.

From the definition above, diversity is in accordance with the conditions in our country, Indonesia. Indonesia is an archipelago which has 17,504 islands spread from Sabang to Marauke and in each island there are diverse differences ranging from population, customs, flora and fauna and other matter. Even in one island there can also be differences, a small example is that although both are on the island of Java there are culinary differences between Central Java and East Java. Culinary from Central Java has a sweet taste and not too spicy, but culinary from East Java has a spicy and salty taste.

The diversity in Indonesia can occur because of the struggle of our ancestors who have fought very hard so that the people of Indonesia from Sabang to Marauke can unite. The desire to unite can be seen from the motto of our country that reads ‘Bhinneka Tunggal Ika’ which means ‘different but we are still one’. Therefore, we as the next generation must be able to maintain the unity of Indonesia that has been passed down by our ancestors. We can protect it by maintaining the diversity that exists in our country. There are several ways we can do to maintain diversity, for example:
  • Strengthen understanding of the ideology of the Pancasila and the motto Bhinneka Tunggal Ika.
  • Foster awareness for tolerance by associating without regard to ethnicity, race and religion.
  • Creating culture-based social integration by respecting the entire culture in Indonesia and provide a balanced opportunity in the economic, social, political fields and choose the religion and beliefs of each without intervention and discrimination.
  • Fight and distance yourself from radical understandings that can break unity.
  • Maintain mutual cooperation culture that can foster togetherness between neighbors and strengthens kinship.
